Walter Savage Landor

Walter Savage Landor was an interesting dude.

He was a poet back when being a poet was a profession (late 1700's to early 1800's.)

His most famous work was entitled "Imaginary Conversations" with the most famous poem being:

Rose Aylmer

Ah what avails the sceptred race,
Ah what the form divine!
What every virtue, every grace!
Rose Aylmer, all were thine.
Rose Aylmer, whom these wakeful eyes
May weep, but never see,
A night of memories and of sighs
I consecrate to thee.

He hung out with Dickens and feuded with Sir Walter Scott.  As a matter of fact, he always had a problem with someone (even though he is often described as the most gentle man ever.)

He has a quote:

Men, like nails, lose their usefulness when they lose direction and begin to bend.

 I like that quote.
